Doncaster Rovers<\/a> have secured<\/a> the signature of Wolverhampton Wanderers<\/a> defender Cameron John<\/a> on a permanent deal.<\/p>\n

John, 21, spent the 2019\/20 season on loan at the Keepmoat Stadium.<\/p>\n

He arrives for an undisclosed fee and has signed a two-year deal with Doncaster.<\/p>\n

Cameron John Rejoins Doncaster Rovers<\/h2>\n

Major Acquisition for Rovers<\/h3>\n

Cameron John made an early impression at Doncaster Rovers, quickly announcing himself with a League One<\/a> debut goal against Fleetwood Town<\/a> last year.<\/p>\n

He soon declared himself as a more-than-capable defender for the club.<\/p>\n

It’s clear John could probably ply his trade further up the ladder, however, he has opted to return to Doncaster, permanently.<\/p>\n

This is an exciting signing amongst Doncaster fans, who enjoyed his loan spell. He fits perfectly in Darren Moore’s defence. An assured defender, that can play out with the ball. This is a major acquisition.<\/p>\n

He is their fifth signing of the summer, with additions<\/a> coming thick and fast in the last week or so.<\/p>\n

John’s addition gives Darren Moore options as the former Wolves defender is capable of playing at both centre-back and left-back, having filled in for Reece James<\/a> when the former Manchester United<\/a> & Sunderland<\/a> defender was injured.<\/p>\n

Doncaster Rovers say John will be eligible for Saturday’s Carabao Cup<\/a> meeting with Blackburn Rovers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Time at Wolves<\/h3>\n

The young English defender had been a regular across the Wolves academy setup, making 67 appearances for the U18s and U23s there.<\/p>\n

However, it was only when he joined Doncaster that he started to show that he is capable in front of the goal too. John scored three goals in his 21 appearances in 2019\/20.<\/p>\n

He did not make a senior appearance at Wolves.<\/p>\n

Nominal Fee<\/h3>\n

The Daily Mail’s Simon Jones this morning reported<\/a> that the Midlands club rate Cameron John, however, believes there is too much competition for places in defence.<\/p>\n

John has snubbed interest from the Championship<\/a> to return to Darren Moore’s side.<\/p>\n

Barnsley<\/a>, Ipswich Town<\/a>, and AFC Wimbledon<\/a> are named as others to have enquired about a move.<\/p>\n

Jones also claims Wolves have agreed to sell for a nominal fee, but included a sell-on percentage of around 30%.<\/p>\n

Darren Moore is understood to be happy with the club seeing off competition for John’s signing and particularly in such a bargain deal.<\/p>\n

Whiteman Bid Rejected<\/h3>\n

Elsewhere, Doncaster Rovers have rejected a further bid from Barnsley for in-demand midfielder Ben Whiteman<\/a>, according to Liam Hoden of the Doncaster Free Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Continuing to reject advances that will not allow Darren Moore to adequately improve the team, as chief executive Gavin Baldwin promised<\/a>.<\/p>\n
