MK Dons have confirmed that striker Rhys Healey has left the club, joining French Ligue 2 side Toulouse for an undisclosed fee.<\/p>\n
The 25-year-old’s departure will prove to be a big loss for MK Dons<\/a>.<\/p>\n Healey has become a fans’ favourite at Stadium MK. After an initial loan spell, where he scored nine goals in 21 appearances, the Welshman returned to the club last summer.<\/p>\n Following the confirmation of his permanent move, Healey became a hugely important figure for the club. He scored 12 goals in 20 appearances last season, as MK Dons finished 19th in League One.<\/p>\n After cementing their place in the third division last season, manager Russell Martin was hoping to build a side capable of making a push for the top half around Healey. However, they may have to settle for consolidating in mid-table.<\/p>\n Russell Martin was expressed his disappointment about losing Healey when speaking to the official MK Dons website.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re disappointed to lose Rhys,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n “He was obviously a huge player for us in the months leading up to the lockdown, so I understand the frustration this news will bring \u2013 we feel it too.<\/p>\n “We didn\u2019t have to sell Rhys in this window and we certainly didn\u2019t want to either, but the interest from Toulouse intensified over the last few weeks to the point where he expressed that he saw his future in the south of France. We then worked hard, as a Club and with the player, to get the right deal and one that was much improved on their initial offer.<\/p>\n \u201cRhys is an ambitious young man and I’m sure he won’t mind me saying that this is a life-changing move for him.
