Crystal Palace<\/a> are on the verge of completing a deal for Queens Park Rangers forward Eberechi Eze, according to Fabrizio Romano<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ed Aarons of The Guardian<\/a> is reporting that the deal is worth \u00a315 million in up-front costs.<\/p>\n

The Eagles have beat off late competition for the 22-year-old’s signature.<\/p>\n

The Athletic reported that West Bromwich Albion<\/a> had agreed<\/a> a deal for Eze, with the transfer being worth more in up-front costs.<\/p>\n

However, the player himself is keen to remain in London. As a result, it has signalled his move across the capital to Selhurst Park.<\/p>\n

West Ham United<\/a> and Fulham<\/a> were among a host of other top-flight clubs to show interest in the QPR forward. However, Palace were the only club to show any intent in securing his signature. They saw a bid of \u00a312 million rejected earlier this summer.<\/p>\n

According to The Guardian, minor details, such as personal terms, will not be difficult to agree on.<\/p>\n

Excellent Signing<\/h3>\n

Securing the 22-year-old’s signature could prove to be a shrewd piece of business by Palace.<\/p>\n

The Eagles are keen to lower the average age of their squad this summer while also trying to add quality, and Eze certainly fits into the bracket.<\/p>\n

Eze scored 14 goals for Mark Warburton’s side last season, a record only beaten by Nahki Wells and Jordan Hugill. He averaged a goal every three-and-a-half games, an average that is not beaten by Jordan Ayew or Wilfried Zaha, Palace’s top scorers last season.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, he also added eight assists to his game last season. Again, his ‘chance created’<\/a> stats were significantly higher than those currently among the Palace squad.<\/p>\n

While it may take time for him to adjust to the Premier League, it is a signing that shows Palace are going in a new direction.<\/p>\n
