Lincoln City have confirmed that they have signed 22-year-old midfielder Theo Archibald<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Scotsman arrives at the LNER Stadium following his released by Macclesfield Town.<\/p>\n

Ninth Addition of the Summer<\/h3>\n

Archibald is the ninth player<\/a> to join the Imps this summer ahead of the forthcoming campaign.<\/p>\n

The Scotsman will add depth to Michael Appleton’s squad out wide. Lincoln currently have Harry Anderson, Zack Elbouzedi and Jorge Grant as their attacking options; however, Appleton is looking to have sufficient backup in every position.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old arrives at the LNER Stadium after scoring six goals for Macclesfield last season. While his goals could not keep the Silkmen in League Two, he was one of the few bright sparks of last season.<\/p>\n

Archibald began his career in Scotland with Celtic, before making the move down south to join Brentford, initially as part of their B team.<\/p>\n

However, he only made three appearances during his time with the Bees. After a loan spell with Forest Green Rovers in the 2018\/19, he signed a permanent one-year deal with Macclesfield last summer.<\/p>\n

Speaking about his move to the official Lincoln City website<\/a>, Archibald said: “There\u2019s been an extended wait with everything that\u2019s going on in the world but I\u2019m absolutely delighted to be here now.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s exciting, there\u2019s a lot of young players in the squad. When I spoke to the gaffer and when I spoke to Jez, there was a plan for me. It felt like they wanted me and had a plan for me and for a young player that\u2019s exactly what you want.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s a great club to be at and it always felt right, it\u2019s been on my mind, I hoped to become an Imp one day. Here I finally am and I\u2019m looking forward to getting going.\u201d<\/p>\n

Manager Michael Appleton added: “Theo is going to give us balance in the wide areas, with him being left footed. He\u2019s someone who is very direct and is always looking to go past people.\u201d<\/p>\n
