Jos\u00e9 Callejon<\/a> is likely to swap Napoli for Villarreal after 7 years with the Italian club, according to Fabrizio Romano<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The move will take place as a free transfer, ending Callejon\u2019s long association with Napoli and Serie A<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Player Leaves a Lasting Napoli Legacy<\/h3>\n

The 33-year-old joined Napoli from Real Madrid in 2013, and has made 255 appearances in the Italian top flight.<\/p>\n

The Spain international won the Coppa Italia twice during his time in Naples, with the latest victory coming against Juventus in the cup final this season. <\/a>The Spaniard also enjoyed an Italian Super Cup win in 2015.<\/p>\n

Though Callejon is calling time on his Napoli career and is seeking a move back to his native Spain as a free agent, he has continually demonstrated his quality over the course of this campaign.<\/p>\n

The winger made 45 appearances in all competitions in 2019\/20 for Gennaro Gattuso<\/a>\u2019s side, scoring 4 goals and providing 7 assists.<\/p>\n

Callejon started 35 of those 45 games, suggesting he has plenty of energy in the tank to be a hit for Villarreal once the transfer goes ahead.<\/p>\n

Callejon Returning to Spanish Football<\/h3>\n

The winger is reportedly set to return to Spain to play out the twilight years of an impressive career in European football.<\/p>\n

Callejon achieved a great deal over the course of his first spell in Spanish football, winning La Liga<\/a> with Real Madrid in 2011\/12, and claiming the Spanish Super Cup in 2013.<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old is looking likely to become Villarreal\u2019s fourth summer singing so far in this window. The Spanish club \u2013 who finished fifth in La Liga this season \u2013 have already brought in young Real Madrid winger Takefusa Kubo<\/a> on loan, and have also signed Francis Coquelin<\/a> and Dani Parejo<\/a> from city rivals Valencia. Like Callejon could do, the latter arrived as a free transfer ahead of next season.<\/p>\n
