Manager Phil Parkinson operates with a 3-4-3 formation and, therefore, additional defenders are required.

Feeney comes highly rated from Everton. He joined the Toffees as a seven-year-old, and leaves after being the captain of their under-23 side. The 21-year old spent time on loan at fellow League One side Tranmere last season before returning after one appearance due to injury.

The Liverpool-born defender captained Everton’s youth side to a league and cup double in 2019, winning Premier League 2 and the Premier League cup, defeating Newcastle United in the final.

Opportunity for Senior Football

Feeney made his Everton debut in 2017 against Atalanta in the Europa League. Despite this, he only went on to make a handful of appearances for the first team. In January 2020, he went on loan to Tranmere. Everton then released the academy product after returning to the club.

This move is a chance for Feeney to play regular first-team football. Feeney spoke to the club’s official website to express his happiness. “I’m made up to be here.
