Harry Maguire<\/a>, after allegedly hitting and verbally abusing a police officer alongside others, is expected to be charged with Aggravated Assaul<\/a>t. The incident occurred when the Manchester United<\/a> defender, along with some friends, got into a confrontation with another group of English holiday goers. Mykonos police arrived as the situation escalated, resulting in Maguire’s arrest and detainment.<\/span><\/p>\n

What Next Following Maguire Arrest?<\/span><\/h3>\n

After spending the night in custody, the England international is set to face charges on the nearby island of Syros.<\/span><\/p>\n

Petros Vassilakis, a police spokesperson, stated the following after the arrest<\/a>: “When the brawl was all sorted out, one of the two groups – with the football players – started verbally abusing officers. There were several policemen there.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“At some point, one of the three members of the group – they were aged 27, 28 and 29 – threw a swing at one of the policemen and a fight ensued.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0“All of the three were arrested but during the effort to do so, the other two, including the football player, got violent also. They threw down at least two policemen, hit them with their fists and kicked them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“I can’t tell you what they were telling us. All English swear words against the authorities and against the work of the police. All three, including the football player, are being held in custody, locked up in Mykonos cell.”<\/span><\/p>\n

A Disappointing Situation<\/span><\/h3>\n

Just when Manchester United were looking likely to improve, their club captain has done the most frustrating thing possible. Maguire’s arrest will give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plenty to think about, whether that thinking concludes with the taking of Maguire’s armband, we are yet to see, however.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Harry Maguire arrest is certainly a low point in the Manchester United defender’s career, and one that may have serious consequences.<\/span><\/p>\n
