Sheffield United<\/a> have confirmed that they have signed goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale<\/a> for an undisclosed fee.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old returns to the club where he started his career after three-and-a-half years away.<\/p>\n

Returning After Successful Year<\/h3>\n

Ramsdale his returning to Bramall Lane after a successful season with Bournemouth<\/a>, despite their relegation to the Championship.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old was promoted to the number one spot in the Cherries starting line-up after a series of successful loan spells.<\/p>\n

Although he conceded 62 goals in 37 appearances, Ramsdale made a number of excellent performances and was credited with giving Bournemouth a hope of survival until the final day of the season.<\/p>\n

His return is likely to mean that Dean Henderson will not be returning. After a successful two-year loan spell, Henderson has returned to Manchester United<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What Was Said?<\/h3>\n

Speaking about his return to Bramall Lane to the official Sheffield United website<\/a>, Ramsdale said: “I’m very fortunate to be able to come back to a place I call home and I’m just excited to get going, see the lads I left behind and meet the new ones now in the team.<\/p>\n

“I’m delighted, it wasn’t an easy decision to leave Bournemouth, but when a club comes in for you, shows that faith it has and is willing to pay this sort of money then obviously I’ve got to do a lot to repay it, but my smile has been ear-to-ear since I walked back through the door.”<\/p>\n

Blades manager Chris Wilder said: “The goalkeeping situation is something we have to make sure we get right.<\/p>\n

“This is not about Dean (Henderson), it’s about bringing Aaron in, but Dean was outstanding for us for two years. We know a lot about Aaron, we’ve watched him develop on loan at Chesterfield and then AFC Wimbledon and obviously we’ve watched him this season too.<\/p>\n

“I’d like to thank the board for their backing given the situation. Aaron is certainly amongst the best young goalkeepers in this country and we are delighted to have him.”<\/p>\n
