As well as being very talented, Zlatan brings impressive baggage and is a presence in the locker room, which is why the club intend on keeping him at the San Siro for one more year.

38-Year-Old Zlatan Ibrahimović to Extend Stay at AC Milan

Like Fine Wine

Zlatan Ibrahimović has seemed ageless for many years. As seasons go by, he keeps on scoring goals wherever he plays. When the Swede joined LA Galaxy from Manchester United, many thought his career was coming to an end. The MLS is known as an end of career league for big-name players, but it wasn’t enough for ‘Ibra’.

When his contract in America expired, Zlatan moved back to Europe to keep challenging himself. He then signed with AC Milan, one of the three Italian sides he had already played for. The sleeping giants are looking to get back to their best and turned to the 38-year-old to help them.

In the past half-season, the Malmö-born attacker appeared 20 times for Milan, where he scored 11 goals and added five assists to his tally. Many would retire at his age, but in an Instagram video in July, Zlatan said “So you think that I’m done, that my career will soon be over. You don’t know me.” He ruled out retirement, stating “I’m just warming up.”

Zlatan’s Trophy Cabinet

Aside from his exceptional talent, Zlatan has an incredible reputation. From Sweden to England, Spain, France, the Netherlands, and the United States. he has played all across the world. If one thing is certain, it’s that he has impresses wherever he settles.

In his trophy cabinet, Zlatan can count 11 Swedish Footballer of the year awards, as well as five league top scorer trophies. Most impressively, the attacker scored 38 goals for Paris Saint-Germain in 2015/16, to win his third Ligue 1 Golden Boot.

At club level, Ibrahimović has won league titles in Spain, Italy, France, and the Netherlands. To this, he adds domestic cups in all of these countries plus England, as well as a Europa League trophy with Manchester United. Unfortunately, the legendary forward has never won the UEFA Champions League, nor an international trophy.

Through injuries and years of wear and tear, there is no sign of stopping Zlatan Ibrahimović. There were hints of a retirement approaching, but the veteran has ruled it out and looks set to sign a new contract at AC Milan for the 2020/21 season.

Main Photo

Embed from Getty Images

Swedish legend Zlatan Ibrahimović is set to extend his contract with AC Milan for one more season.
