Oxford United<\/a> have signed 19-year-old striker Dylan Asonganyi<\/a> following his release from MK Dons. The forward, who worked under U’s boss Karl Robinson during his time in Buckinghamshire, was on trial with Oxford during their pre-season training camp in Wales last week, and has been handed a one-year contract.<\/p>\n

Highly-Rated Youngster<\/h3>\n

Asonganyi spent ten years with MK, but only managed ten appearances for the club. He made the first-team squad as a 16-year-old but only made his debut two years later. He was released in the summer after a string of injuries during his tenure.<\/p>\n

However, the youngster had previously been linked with a number of Premier League<\/a> clubs, including Liverpool<\/a> and Manchester United<\/a>, and Robinson believes he will be a good fit for the U’s.<\/p>\n

Robinson and Asonganyi Both Delighted With the Move<\/h3>\n

Speaking to the clubs’ official website, Robinson said<\/a>: \u201cHe is very talented. As a kid, there were a lot of clubs looking at him but he suffered an injury and then maybe hasn\u2019t had the opportunities which he would have liked.<\/p>\n

“So we took a look and he pushed himself in every session, clearly has a desire and we think he will come here determined to show what he can truly do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asonganyi added: \u201cThe Gaffer and all the staff have been amazing with me. It was good to get to know everyone over the last week and it\u2019s a very ambitious club where I want to come in, settle down and play my football again. I feel fit and strong and I can’t wait to get started.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fifth Summer Signing<\/h3>\n

Asonganyi becomes Karl Robinson’s fifth summer signing. He follows Joel Cooper<\/a>, Matty Taylor<\/a>, Sean Clare<\/a> and Marcus McGuane<\/a> to the League One side.<\/p>\n
