The German simply gets it at Liverpool; he resonates with the City so well; he leads Liverpool to perform with every last inch of effort for the often bellowing Anfield faithful. Before, a Premier League title seemed impossible, almost like there was a curse hanging over the red part of Merseyside.

Yet, in came Klopp; in came the normal one to turn doubters to believers; to completely obliterate that curse. Klopp and co won’t stop with one title, either. They’ll want to replicate Sir Alex Ferguson’s dominance over England. And, with four years left on his current contract, anything is possible.

Enjoy those four years, though, as, according to Paul Joyce of The Times, they’ll be his last in the Anfield dugout. As reported by Joyce, Klopp stated in an interview with Sportbuzzer: “I’ll take a year off football and ask myself if I miss football. If I say no, then that will be the last of coach Jürgen Klopp.”

Klopp Set to Leave Liverpool in 2024

Nine Years as Manager for Jürgen Klopp by 2024

Nine years is a long time in football, especially for Jürgen Klopp. The German has never spent more than six years at a club before. At Mainz, he arrived in 2001 before leaving a hero in 2008.

At Borussia Dortmund, he took the job in 2008 before leaving in 2015 with a couple Bundesliga medals and tearful goodbye to the fans as souvenirs.

His farewell at Dortmund was emotional, but as Klopp broke with happy tears in a night of partying as Willian’s goal for Chelsea secured the title, he would have realised that leaving Liverpool in four years time will hit him harder than ever before.

Early Candidates Liverpool Should Look Towards

It may be four years away yet, but Liverpool will want to ensure a continuation of success after Klopp’s tenure. The candidates whispered by fans seem to be Steven Gerrard, Klopp’s assistant Pep Lijnders, and the youngest manager to take to the Champions League semi-finals, 33-year-old Julian Nagelsmann.

All three candidates will come with a convincing pitch nearer the time. Nagelsmann could have already taken his place at the top echelon of team’s in Europe, potentially ruling him out.

Steven Gerrard will bring with him years of Anfield legacy alongside, by that point, five years of managerial experience. And Pep Lijnders will bring with him the knowledge instilled straight from Jürgen Klopp himself. The question will certainly be posed of, what better way to replace Klopp than by hiring the man who has spent years learning from him, and advising him?

Jürgen Klopp Will Focus on the Present

Despite all the talks going around, Jürgen Klopp will focus on the present and the season ahead. His Liverpool side will be eager to defend their title successfully this season. The first title was special with 99 points, but another would be sensational; it would help move this Liverpool side up a place or two in the history books.

Win another Champions League, too, before his departure, and Jürgen Klopp may even get himself a statue. The departure was always going to be inevitable. Now Liverpool must make these final four years more dominant than ever.

Main Photo
Embed from Getty Images

Jürgen Klopp, in the five glorious years in the Anfield dugout, has overseen a transition where Liverpool have retaken their perch.
