Watford<\/a> have confirmed<\/a> that they have signed defender Jeremy Ngakia<\/a> following his release by West Ham United<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Exciting Prospect<\/h3>\n

The 19-year-old was highly-rated by his former employees West Ham.<\/p>\n

He made five starts for the Hammers last season; however, he spent much of the season as understudy to Pablo Zabaleta.<\/p>\n

However, he departed the London Stadium after failing to agree a new contract with West Ham.<\/p>\n

While the contract length is undisclosed, he is set to link up with his new team-mates when they begin pre-season training on Monday.<\/p>\n

What Was Said?<\/h3>\n

Speaking about his move to Vicarage Road, the 19-year-old said:<\/a> “I am absolutely over the moon to be here. When I heard Watford wanted me, it really stood out to me because a great club like Watford wants me and it’s a great team.<\/p>\n

When asked about what persuaded him to make the move to Hertfordshire, he said:\u00a0“The way the club are run really, because, as you can see, there’s a lot of young talent starting to come to Watford. The likes of Domingos [Quina] and Tom Dele [Bashiru], they’re starting to come to Watford because there is clearly a pathway to the first-team here, and that’s what I think I need at this moment in my career.”<\/p>\n

A New Era for the Club<\/h3>\n

A return to the Championship signals a new era for the Hornets.<\/p>\n

Their return to the second division came after a five-year spell in the top-flight was ended after a final day defeat to Arsenal.<\/p>\n

The new season and new division also means a new man in the dugout at Vicarage Road. Nigel Pearson was sacked just two games before the end of the season, and the Hornets have been looking for a new manager ever since.<\/p>\n

However, it now appears that there is a new man in charge, as Vladimir Ivic<\/a> looks set to be appointed.<\/p>\n
