Having been named Premier League<\/a> Young Player of the Season for 2019-20<\/a>, Trent Alexander-Arnold<\/a> had the season of every young Scousers dreams this year. As Liverpool<\/a> put to bed three decades of missed domestic glory, Alexander-Arnold and his teammates have plenty to be proud of, perhaps the West Derby born youngster can be more proud than most, however, as he came to the fore in phenomenal results.<\/p>\n

Trent Alexander-Arnold: Liverpool’s Rare Talent<\/h2>\n

The 21-year-old appeared in all 38 fixtures of Liverpool’s title-winning campaign and was exceptional each step of the way.<\/p>\n

Marauding forward from right-back, the England international’s quality and range of passing is more befitting of an elite central midfielder. This season he broke his own record for assists by a defender in a single Premier League campaign. His 13 assists epitomised his quality of delivery.<\/p>\n

Alexander-Arnold also added four league goals to the champions’ tally, most of which came from unerringly accurate free-kicks.<\/p>\n

Both Alexander-Arnold and his opposite full-back Andy Robertson<\/a> are imperative in the way Jurgen Klopp likes to play, setting up his full-backs as auxiliary wingers in possession who are always available to cross or switch play, both with unrivaled success.<\/p>\n

Not only a threat going forward, the Liverpool academy graduate has also honed his defensive attributes in recent months, having been criticised in the past for being suspect on defensive duties.<\/p>\n

England’s Best Option?<\/h3>\n

Despite a plethora of available right-backs at\u00a0Gareth Southgate<\/a>‘s disposal, the Liverpool star has to be at the front of the queue. His pinpoint crossing ability from the right, as well as his eye for a goal, make him easily the best in the country if not the best worldwide.<\/p>\n

Across a season of outstanding performances for the youngster, his finest hour came in the Reds’ Boxing Day mauling of Leicester City<\/a>. The right-back was in imperious form and played a hand in three of the four goals, assisting two and scoring one<\/a> sublime effort from the edge of the box.<\/p>\n

Having already claimed the UEFA Champions League,<\/a> Premier League, FIFA Club World Cup, and UEFA Super Cup at the tender age of 21, as well as numerous individual accolades, there is no telling what awards this once in a generational talent could finish his career having won.<\/p>\n
