As reported in the\u00a0<\/span>Evening Standard<\/span><\/a>,<\/span>\u00a0Liverpool<\/span><\/a>\u00a0have been forced to change their pre-season plans at late notice after new UK quarantine rules changed late last night, meaning they couldn’t make their usual trip to France.<\/span><\/p>\n

Liverpool Pre-Season Plans Scuppered<\/h2>\n

Change of Plan<\/h3>\n

The\u00a0<\/span>Premier League<\/span><\/a>\u00a0champions had planned to return to the French resort of Evian-Les-Bains, their base the two previous summers prior to successful campaigns.<\/span><\/p>\n

Those plans were scuppered when it was announced on Thursday by the UK government that France will be added to the UK\u2019s quarantine list. Meaning that following a visit to any of then countries on that list, individuals will be required to enter a 14-day isolation period upon return, Something that, given the turnaround this summer, was not a viable option for Liverpool.<\/span><\/p>\n

Two Reds Returning on Austrian Adventure<\/h3>\n

The Reds will now spend their pre-season trip in the Austrian town of Saalfelden, an hour\u2019s drive from Salzburg and familiar territory for former Red Bull Salzburg players\u00a0<\/span>Naby Keita<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and January signing\u00a0<\/span>Takumi Minamino<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Liverpool’s squad will have a new member amongst it’s travelling party in new\u00a0<\/span>arrival Kostas Tsimikas.<\/span><\/a>\u00a0The 23-year-old Greek defender joined from Olympiacos last week.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Austrian training camp will likely follow the pattern of previous years and will see fitness based training and tests take place across a number of days. Also perhaps scheduled, will be the occasional team bike ride around the mountainous climbs of Saalfelden.<\/span><\/p>\n

J\u00fcrgen Klopp’s Liverpool squad will then return to Melwood, soon to be their old training home, as the finishing touches are put on the state of the art Kirkby training centre, where preparations will continue before they embark on their 2020\/21 season which starts in just over four weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n

Before the Premier League gets back underway, the Reds will face last seasons’\u00a0<\/span>FA Cup winners Arsenal<\/span><\/a>\u00a0in the Community Shield at Wembley on August 27.<\/span><\/p>\n
