Bristol City have confirmed that they have appointed Dean Holden as their new manager, following his role in temporary charge.<\/p>\n
Holden took over on a caretaker basis following the sacking of Lee Johnson on July 4.<\/p>\n
He won two of his six games in charge, both of which came against sides below them.<\/p>\n
However, they only suffered two defeats during his stint, both of which were 1-0 defeats to Cardiff City and Swansea City.<\/p>\n
The 40-year-old had a tough task during his short stint. The Robins had not won any of their last nine games, meaning they slipped out of the play-off race. Subsequently, Johnson was sacked after more than four years at Ashton Gate.<\/p>\n
Speaking to the official Bristol City website<\/a> about his appointment, Holden said: “I am honoured to take on the role of head coach – it\u2019s a very proud moment for me and my family. I\u2019m excited about this opportunity and I\u2019m delighted that the Board have selected me.<\/p>\n \u201cI want to say we will go into every game wanting to win with attacking and exciting football. That\u2019s what fans want. I know what it\u2019s like to be a supporter. I love that our supporters care and are so passionate. I know what that\u2019s like – it\u2019s important to them and rightly so. I spent all my money as a kid following my team around the country home and away.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat you see is what you get with me. I\u2019ll be honest with the players, staff and the fans and I\u2019ll graft as hard as I can to bring success to this football club.\u201d<\/p>\n Chief Executive Mark Ashton added: “We are delighted to announce Dean as Bristol City\u2019s head coach.
