Liverpool<\/a> are close to signing Kostas Tsimikas<\/a> from Olympiacos as they have reportedly entered advanced talks for Greek left-back. The two clubs have agreed on a fee of \u20ac13 m (\u00a311.75 m) according to The Athletic reporter James Pearce on Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It has also been reported on Twitter by Melissa Reddy,<\/a> senior football correspondent for The Independent, that the Greek left-back will undergo a medical early next week.<\/p>\n

The Reds had been pursuing Norwich City’s Jamal Lewis<\/a> until the clubs failed to agree on a fee.<\/p>\n

Jurgen Klopp now seems to have turned his attention elsewhere, looking to sign cover for Andy Robertson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The three times Greece international has impressed for Olympiacos since returning from a number of loan spells in 2018.<\/p>\n

The full-back is known for showing high energy and makes him an obvious understudy for Robertson. The 24-year-old Greek also played all 90 minutes of his side’s recent Europa League defeat to Wolves.<\/p>\n

Having made 26 appearances during Olympiacos’ successful Super League Greece campaign this season, Tsimikas looks set to join the Premier League champions.<\/p>\n

The arrival of the Greek left-back should allow Joe Gomez<\/a> and James Milner<\/a> a break from filling in Robertson’s absence. Both men, however, have shown to be capable of filling the unnatural position in the past.<\/p>\n

Tsimikas will become only the second man from his nation to represent Liverpool, following Sotirios Kyrgiakos<\/a> who played for the club between 2009 and 2011.<\/p>\n

Klopp will have been disappointed to see the negotiations breakdown between the Reds and the Canaries over the transfer of Jamal Lewis.<\/a> Recently relegated Norwich City were reportedly demanding double the amount offered by Liverpool.<\/p>\n

The Premier League champions will desperately seek backup for Robertson. The Scotsman played 4,242 minutes last season – just Virgin van Dijk played more for Liverpool.<\/p>\n

With another hectic schedule around the corner, Klopp will be delighted to see Tsimikas walk through the door.<\/p>\n
