Brighton & Hove Albion<\/a> have signed Belgian defender Lars Dendoncker<\/a> on a two-year contract, the club has announced<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Lars, 19, is the younger brother of Wolverhampton Wanderers<\/a> midfielder Leander Dendoncker<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Joining the Under-23 Setup<\/h3>\n

Lars Dendoncker emerges from the youth setup at Club Brugge<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He is predominantly a centre-back and will join Brighton’s under-23s side.<\/p>\n

As tall as his brother, Lars, will look to bring a great deal of presence to the future of the Brighton defence.<\/p>\n

He featured in the UEFA Youth League against the likes of Galatasaray<\/a>, Paris Saint-Germain<\/a>, and Real Madrid<\/a> in 2019\/20.<\/p>\n

Dendoncker has represented Belgium<\/a> from under-15 to under-19 level.<\/p>\n

Dream to Play in England<\/h3>\n

“I’m very happy to be a Brighton player, it’s a lovely set-up which made it an easy choice to sign for the club,” Lars told the club website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Graham Potter uses young players and that attracted me. Also, the stadium and training ground are fantastic and English football is the best in the world.<\/p>\n

“It’s always been a dream of mine to play in England. I spoke with him (Leander) and he told me England is something you have to experience.<\/p>\n

“He said there are a lot of good coaches that will help you and make you a better player – not just tactically but physically and every other aspect of the game. He said it was a lot of fun and that I had to do it.”<\/p>\n

What He Can Offer<\/h3>\n

“My best position is defence. I’m tall and strong in the air and I’m comfortable with both feet and feel I have a good vision for passes.<\/p>\n

“I’m looking forward to meeting the rest of the squad now and starting my journey here with Brighton.”<\/p>\n
