Oxford United<\/a> midfielder Cameron Brannagan<\/a> has signed a new two-year deal, keeping him at the club until 2023.<\/p>\n

New Two-Year Deal<\/h3>\n

The 24-year-old has committed his future and will stay with the club for the foreseeable future, having had just one year left on his current deal.<\/p>\n

It also ends any potential speculation about him leaving the club, with Leeds United<\/a> and Burnley<\/a> among those to have previously shown interest in the midfielder.<\/p>\n

Brannagan has made 104 appearances for the U’s since his arrival from Liverpool<\/a> in January 2018, and has become one of the clubs most prized assets.<\/p>\n

Last season, the midfielder scored seven times and added seven assists as the U’s finished in fourth place. He also scored the decisive penalty kick in the League One play-off semi-final second leg against Portsmouth.<\/a><\/p>\n

What Was Said<\/h3>\n

Speaking to the Oxford Mail<\/a>, Brannagan said: \u201cI\u2019m absolutely made up. It\u2019s a big thing for me and my family,\u00a0Oxford\u00a0stood there and helped me out when I really needed a platform to get first-team football and get my name out there.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were the club to step in and really push me and help me as much as they could.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast season we played some great stuff and it was very unfortunate not to go all the way, but that\u2019s life and we move on.<\/p>\n

\u201cSigning the contract is massive, I love it here, love living here and I\u2019m just looking forward to get going again.”<\/p>\n

When interviewed by the clubs’ official website<\/a>, Brannagan added: \u201cI\u2019m more than happy to be here. All I want is to win promotion and be successful with this club.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe club is set up for that and I have loved my time here so far. I owe the club a lot because they took a chance on me as a young player and I want to repay that.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the fans have seen what we are about – there are record sales for season tickets and that\u2019s amazing. I can\u2019t wait for the day when we play in front of another full house at the Kassam or those away games where the fans are roaring us on behind the goal.”<\/p>\n
