Swindon Town have confirmed that they have confirmed that they have signed midfielder Jack Payne from Lincoln City.<\/p>\n
The 25-year-old has agreed a two-year deal at the County Ground.<\/p>\n
Payne has left Lincoln to join the Robins, who were promoted to League One last season.<\/p>\n
The 25-year-old spent just one season at the LNER Stadium. After joining on a free transfer from Blackburn Rovers, he made 30 appearances for the Imps, scoring two goals.<\/p>\n
However, he did not feature for Michael Appleton’s side beyond February 1. He soon quickly fell down the pecking order, and as a result, has been allowed to leave the club.<\/p>\n
Payne is an experienced figure at League One level. He has individual spells with Southend United, Oxford United, Blackburn Rovers and Bradford City in the third division.<\/p>\n
It was at Southend where he was rewarded with a move to the Championship. Payne scored nine goals and registered five assists in the 2015\/16 season, and was subsequently signed by Huddersfield Town<\/a><\/p>\n However, he failed to make a regular impact with the Terries. As a result, he soon quickly returned to League One.<\/p>\n Speaking to the official Swindon Town website<\/a> upon his arrival, Payne said:\u201cI\u2019m excited to be here, to get things sorted early. Can\u2019t wait to get started.<\/p>\n \u201cI know a couple of the lads here and I know how well they did last year.
