Manchester City<\/a> have made their second signing of the summer, confirming the arrival of Nathan Ake<\/a> on a five-year deal.<\/p>\n

The defender is Pep Guardiola’s second signing of the summer after the confirmation Ferran Torres’<\/a> signing yesterday.<\/p>\n

Nathan Ake Joins Manchester City<\/h2>\n

Adding Quality to the Defence<\/h3>\n

Ake will certainly add plenty of quality to the defence as he arrives at the Etihad Stadium.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old was one of the standout performers throughout much of his time at Bournemouth. He predominantly operated as ball-playing centre-back in either a back three or a back four, a style of play that will certainly suit Pep Guardiola.<\/p>\n

The Dutchman won the Supporters Player of the Year in his first full season at the Vitality Stadium. Despite their downfall from there, which resulted in relegation for the Cherries, Ake continued to impress. He made 30 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring two goals.<\/p>\n

A Dream Move for the Dutchman<\/h3>\n

Speaking to the official Manchester City website<\/a>, Ake said: “City have been the best side in England over the course of the last decade.<\/p>\n

\u201cComing here is a dream for me. This is a top side full of world-class players. Everywhere you look in this squad there are big names with international pedigree.<\/p>\n

\u201cPep is a manager admired across the world \u2013 what he\u2019s done in the game speaks for itself. The success he\u2019s had is unbelievable and the style of football he plays really appeals to me.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know I\u2019m going to have to work hard to get into the side, but that\u2019s what I\u2019m here to do. I\u2019ll do whatever I can to make an impact and help the team win silverware.\u201d<\/p>\n

Txiki Begiristain complemented the Dutchman’s style of play, saying: “Nathan is a quality defender. He was a leader during his time at Bournemouth, and I am so pleased we\u2019ve managed to bring him here.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s strong and quick, and we feel he has the technical and intellectual attributes needed to excel in Pep\u2019s setup.”<\/p>\n
