Rangers have confirmed the signing of Kemar Roofe<\/a> from Anderlecht for an undisclosed fee as the Scottish Premiership gets back underway.<\/p>\n

Last seasons runners-up were in need of a striker as they prepare for Alfredo Morelos<\/a>\u2019 likely departure in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

Kemar Roofe Joins Rangers<\/h2>\n

Former Leeds United Striker Moves to Scotland<\/h3>\n

Roofe, 27, joined the Belgium side Anderlecht managed by Vincent Kompany from Leeds United last summer in a \u00a37 million deal. The forward has now made the switch to Scotland, signing a four-year deal with Steven Gerrard<\/a>\u2019s side.<\/p>\n

Roofe scored seven times in 16 appearances last season for Anderlecht but struggled for consistency as a result of a run of injuries.<\/p>\n

He told his new club\u2019s website<\/a>: \u201cRangers are a huge club, with ambition and I know this is the right fit for me to progress my career.”<\/p>\n

One in and One out at Ibrox?<\/h3>\n

Following the arrival of Roofe, Rangers look set to lose another striker in Morelos<\/a> this summer. French club Lille have been heavily linked with the Colombia international, who has scored 77 goals in 138 games for Rangers, as they seek a replacement for recently departed ace Victor Osimhen<\/a>, who joined Napoli in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

Roofe will hope to fire Gerrard’s men closer to last seasons Champions Celtic as they aim to win a record-breaking tenth consecutive Scottish Premiership title. Rangers will be desperate to stop their Old Firm rivals, adding Roofe’s goal prowess could be a pivotal step in bridging the gap.<\/p>\n

The striker will begin training with his new teammates when they return from Germany, where they are currently training ahead of their Europa League second leg tie with Bayer Leverkusen.<\/p>\n
