Danny Rose<\/a> has criticised the way in which he is often stopped by police. He has included a scenario on a first-class train carriage in his denouncing of racial profiling and discrimination.<\/p>\n

Rose Speaks Out at All-Too-Common Police Stops<\/h3>\n

Speaking to the Second Captains Podcast<\/a>, the England and Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> left-back gave a recent example of the police stopping him. But he says that has been getting stopped since he was 15.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe last time, last week, when I\u2019d just been at my mum\u2019s house, I had pulled up in a car park so the engine was off. The police pulled in and they brought a riot van, three police cars and they questioned me. They said they\u2019d had a report that a car had not been driving correctly.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I\u2019m like: \u2018OK, so why does that make it my car?\u2019 I got my ID out and they breathalysed me. It\u2019s just one of those things to me now. What can I do? Fifteen years of this on and off the field happening and there\u2019s no change whatsoever.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEach time, it\u2019s: \u2018Is this car stolen? Where did you get this car from? What are you doing here? Can you prove that you bought this car?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Rose’s example is sadly not an outlier. Another recent high profile case in sport was Bianca Williams<\/a> and her partner Ricardo dos Santos. Williams even recorded a video in which she could be heard saying “My son is in the car” whilst a policeman with a baton stood at the car window.<\/p>\n

Train Ticket Check<\/h3>\n

Rose provided another example of his disgust at what he perceived to be racial profiling.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the last times I got on the train, I got on with my bags and the attendant said: \u2018Do you know this is first class?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI say: \u2018Yeah, so what?\u2019 They ask to see my ticket and I show the lady it and \u2013 this is no word of a lie \u2013 two people, white people, walk on the train after me and she says nothing. I asked: \u2018Are you not going to ask for their tickets?\u2019 and she just said: \u2018Ah no, I don\u2019t need to.\u2019<\/p>\n

Rose concluded his thoughts, keen to dispel what other’s might describe as a very long string of coincidences.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople might think it happens but to me that\u2019s racism. These are the things I have to put up with, being stopped all the time and being asked if I know this is first class and to show my ticket.\u201d<\/p>\n

The England defender has always been vocal in his criticism of football clubs, or indeed racism in football. For example, he spoke out against the racist chanting<\/a> in Montenegro. But the Doncaster born football player has now had to speak of his experiences with racism in his home country.<\/p>\n
