Port Vale<\/a> have completed the signing of midfielder Danny Whitehead. The talented playmaker arrives on a free transfer following his exit from Salford City<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The midfielder has signed a two-year deal at Vale Park. He will be hoping to make a big impression when the new season starts.<\/p>\n

Whitehead Arrives From Salford City<\/h3>\n

The midfielder has plied his trade in non-league and began his career at Stockport County. His impressive performances earned him a move to Premier League<\/a> West Ham United<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, he struggled to establish himself in East London and spent most of his time out on loan. Since his exit from West Ham, Whitehead has played for Accrington Stanley, Wigan Athletic<\/a>, Salford City as well as three separate spells at Macclesfield Town.<\/p>\n

Whitehead reunites with Vale manager John Askey after the pair worked together at Macclesfield. His finest moment was helping Macclesfield secure a return to the football league in 2018. Those performances earned him a move to Salford where he impressed helping them to promotion. However, featured sparingly in the football league.<\/p>\n

Whitehead will be hoping to finally kick on in the football league with a manager who knows what he is all about.<\/p>\n

Askey Pleased to Get Whitehead in<\/h3>\n

Speaking to the Port Vale website<\/a> about his new signing, manager John Askey said: \u201cHe\u2019s very energetic, good footballer \u2013 he\u2019ll be another good addition to an already strong midfield.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019ll have to compete with the rest of the players, he\u2019s a solid player who has proved himself at this level \u2013 in recent years he\u2019s had two promotions so hopefully he can get in the side and keep his place.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe tried to get Danny in before but obviously he was under contract at Salford. He\u2019s agreed a mutual termination as he had a year left on his contract.\u201d<\/p>\n
