Josh Granite, the 2019\/20 Barrow AFC club captain, has found himself a new club. He has joined Buxton, less than a month after his release from Barrow<\/a>.

Josh Granite Leaves Barrow After Callum Gribbin Joins<\/h2>\n

Granite Was a Rock for Barrow<\/span><\/h3>\n

Granite was a fans’ favourite at Barrow. He signed for the Cumbrian club in May 2018 from Ashton United. At the time, Barrow were a club who could only dream of <\/span>regaining<\/span> their lost English Football League status.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, his defensive displays during the 2018\/19 season helped the club finish in mid-table in the National League. From there, the club pushed onwards and claimed the 2019\/20 National League title. With this title, came a promotion to the EFL<\/a> – an EFL return that took 48 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Unfortunately, Granite missed most of the 2019\/20 season through injury. Although, he made just eight appearances last season, one will forever stay in the minds of Barrow’s supporters.<\/span><\/p>\n

Going <\/span>Through<\/span> the Pain Barrier<\/span><\/h3>\n

A good captain should always lead by example<\/span><\/span>. Granite <\/span>certainly<\/span> did this during a game against Sutton United in November 2019. An injury to Jason Taylor had already reduced Barrow to 10 men when – having used all their <\/span>substitutes<\/span> – Granite suffered a dislocated shoulder and a fractured collarbone.<\/span><\/p>\n

Remarkably, Granite opted to continue playing in the match. Barrow would have been reduced to just N players h<\/span>ad he not done so<\/span>. His heroic actions were lauded by Barrow’s supporters, especially as B<\/span>arrow eventually won game 1-0<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Granite, a<\/span>fter his release from Barrow, found the time to praise the club’s fans. Speaking to The North West Evening Mail,<\/a> Granite said: <\/span>\u201cI\u2019ve spoken to quite a lot of people who made my time special at Barrow and I\u2019d like to thank them, wish them well.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Quite a Drop<\/span><\/h3>\n

His Barrow team-mates will play in League Two next season. Meanwhile, Granite will feature in the Northern Premier League. <\/span>This<\/span> is the seventh tier in the pyramid of English football. <\/span><\/p>\n

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the <\/span>2019\/20 <\/span>Northern Premier League season was declared void. This was <\/span>in spite<\/span> of roughly 75% of the matches having already taken place. At the time of the suspension, Buxton were 18th in the table.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Callum Gribbin Joins<\/h3>\n

The news of his departure comes after Callum Gribbin made the move to Holker Street.<\/p>\n

The 21-year-old has signed a one-year deal with the League Two club after joining from Sheffield United<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Gribbin began his career with Manchester United<\/a>. However, recurring injuries halted his progress at Old Trafford. Subsequently, he was released by the Red Devils.<\/p>\n
