Sheffield Wednesday will face a 12-point deduction next season. This comes following an independent disciplinary commission announced today.<\/p>\n
The EFL issued the following statement<\/a>: “An independent Disciplinary Commission, appointed under EFL Regulations, has ruled that Sheffield Wednesday will receive a 12 point deduction for breaching the League\u2019s Profitability and Sustainability Rules for the three-season reporting period ending with Season 2017\/18.<\/p>\n “The sporting sanction will take effect in season 2020\/21.”<\/p>\n The commission decided not to apply a 12-point deduction this season. Should the penalty have been imposed this season, Wednesday would have been relegated to League One.<\/p>\n The team finished 16th, eight points ahead of relegated Charlton Athletic, who finished 22nd.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n A statement<\/a> on the club website said: “The club is extremely disappointed that the commission has imposed a 12-point deduction to be applied next season and awaits the written reasons for this decision.<\/p>\n Comments from fans were mixed on social media. Some were ashamed of the club’s actions and others criticised the decision.<\/p>\n So we fudged our accounts – then tried to lie about it is what I sum the EFL statement as.
