1.FC Union Berlin<\/a> have made Nico Schlotterbeck<\/a> as their fourth signing of the summer. The defender joins the Bundesliga<\/a> club on a season-long loan from SC Freiburg.<\/p>\n

A Second Schlotterbeck<\/h3>\n

Fans of Union Berlin would be delighted to hear the name, Schlotterbeck. That is because Keven<\/a>, brother of new signing Nico, spent last season on loan at the Stadion An der Alten F\u00f6rsterei.<\/p>\n

Keven made 29 appearances and scored once for Die Eisernen<\/em> as they ended their maiden Bundesliga campaign in mid-table.<\/p>\n

As a result Nico, who is a Germany U21 international, follows in his brothers’ footsteps and looks to establish himself with the Bundesliga outfit.<\/p>\n

Schlotterbeck turned out for Stuttgarter Kickers, Karlsruher SC and VfR Aalen before making the switch to Freiburg. He has made 16 appearances for Breisgau-Brasilianer<\/i> and made his debut in a 2-1 victory over Hertha Berlin.<\/p>\n

What Was Said<\/h3>\n

Speaking to the clubs’ official website<\/a>, Schlotterbeck said: “Berlin is an exciting city with a special football club. My brother has already told me a lot about Union and after what he told me, you can only look forward to the club and its fans.<\/p>\n

“I’m looking forward to the season at Union and hope to play in front of crowds there soon,” added the 20-year-old.<\/p>\n

Oliver Ruhnert, Director of Professional Football at 1. FC Union Berlin, added: “With Nico Schlotterbeck, we have a young, highly talented defender who has proven his great potential in the Bundesliga.<\/p>\n

“With his way of playing football, he should make our game variable and personally take the next step in his development.”<\/p>\n

Fourth Summer Signing<\/h3>\n

Nico Schlotterbeck becomes Urs Fischer’s fourth summer signing. The centre back, who can also play on the left, follows fellow defender Niko Giesselmann<\/a> and midfielders Sebastian Griesbeck<\/a> and Keita Endo<\/a>.<\/p>\n
