David Alaba<\/a> is showing no signs of coming to an agreement over a new contract with Bayern Munich<\/a>. German newspaper Bild <\/a>are reporting that the player\u2019s agent is demanding the Bundesliga champions to pay the 28-year-old \u20ac20 million (\u00a318 million) a year in order for him to extend his stay with the club.<\/p>\n

With Benjamin Mendy<\/a> again struggling for fitness throughout the recently-concluded Premier League campaign, Pep Guardiola<\/a> is thought to be targeting a new left-back at Manchester City<\/a>. Alaba would represent a ready-made addition to his side and has a decade of experience at the highest level under his belt.<\/p>\n

Why the Player May Be Seeking a New Challenge<\/h3>\n

Austrian international Alaba arrived at Bayern in 2010 and has won every trophy on offer with the club.<\/p>\n

The fact his existing contract is set to expire in 2021 puts the player in a strong negotiating position, a factor his agent is keen to exploit if he is to stay in Bavaria.<\/p>\n

A new contract with Bayern would see Alaba become one of the club\u2019s top earners, placing his salary on a par with the likes of Manuel Neuer<\/a>, Thomas Muller<\/a> and Robert Lewandowski<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Alaba himself, however, does not appear keen to stay with the record champions. Prolonged negotiations continue to stall, and the player is open to a new challenge elsewhere regardless of salary.<\/p>\n

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge Urges Alaba to Make His Mind Up<\/h3>\n

Bayern\u2019s CEO addressed the situation when speaking to SPORT1.<\/a> Rummenigge made it clear that Alaba has received a definite offer to stay, and said the player must make the ultimate decision as to where his future lies.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s no secret that contract negotiations, as always, are about finances. We have laid our cards openly on the table. Now it\u2019s up to his agent, his father, who is also involved in the talks, and at the end of the chain David himself whether he would like to spent the next few years at this club, where he has played successfully for twelve years.\u201d<\/p>\n

If Alaba does decide to call time on his Bundesliga career, long-time admirers Barcelona<\/a> may join Manchester City and Paris-Saint-Germain<\/a> in their pursuit of the Austrian.<\/p>\n
