Bayern Munich’s<\/a> Jerome Boateng<\/a> has refused to rule out a return to the Premier League<\/a> if the opportunity arose.<\/p>\n

The German’s contract runs out at the end of next season, meaning he could start negotiations with foreign clubs in January if not offered a new deal.<\/p>\n

What Was Said?<\/h3>\n

Speaking to CGTN Sports, China’s global television network, the defender said<\/a>: “I wouldn\u2019t say no.<\/p>\n

“I love watching the Premier League and I loved playing there. It helped me a lot to train with world-class players.<\/p>\n

“I don\u2019t know what will happen next. You never know but it\u2019s not like I would say that I don\u2019t want to play there. It\u2019s definitely one of my favourite leagues.”<\/p>\n

Pivotal Role for Bayern Munich<\/h3>\n

Despite being out of contract at the end of next season, Boateng has played a pivotal role in Bayern Munich winning the Bundesliga<\/a> for the eighth season running.<\/p>\n

He played 24 Bundesliga games for the German giants, his most since the 2014\/2015 season, as they went on to win the league. He also played a part in his side keeping the most clean sheets in the league with 15.<\/p>\n

Spell at Manchester City<\/h3>\n

Before playing for the German side he spent time in England with Manchester City<\/a>. However, if he was to return to England’s top-flight, he would be hoping it would go better for him.<\/p>\n

His time at City was marred with injury and despite winning the FA Cup, he missed the final.<\/p>\n

Manchester United Interested in the Past<\/h3>\n

There would be a number of top Premier League teams who would love to have a player of Boateng’s quality at the club. One of these teams would be Manchester United<\/a>. Despite signing Harry Maguire<\/a> for \u00a380 million last summer, United still don’t have the quality in defence to win a Premier League title.<\/p>\n

United have also been linked with United in the past. In 2018, Christian Falk<\/a> reported that they were interested in bringing Boateng to Old Trafford. However, at that time, United didn’t want to match the asking price of between \u00a350 and \u00a360 million.<\/p>\n

United now might go back in for the centre back who they could sign on a free transfer next summer.<\/p>\n
