Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> forward Lucas Moura<\/a> has outlined his aims on winning silverware next season, following the club\u2019s turbulent 2019\/20 campaign. The Brazilian has backed the side\u2019s ability to win the Europa League to gain entry back into the Champions League. It took until the final day of the Premier League<\/a> for Spurs to clinch a Europa League spot, finishing in sixth ahead of Wolverhampton Wanderers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Lucas Moura Targets Silverware With Tottenham Hotspur Next Season<\/h2>\n

Hopes of Ending Silverware Drought<\/h3>\n

Following the conclusion of what has been a drawn-out season, Spurs are now approaching a 13th<\/sup> year in a row without silverware<\/a>. Labelled as part of the traditional \u2018top six\u2019, this statistic doesn\u2019t read well against the club\u2019s stature.<\/p>\n

Spurs\u2019 late push into a Europa League spot through winning three of their final four games<\/a> has ultimately come as a consolation, but an additional route towards silverware. That route will undoubtedly want to be explored by attacker Lucas Moura, who recently expressed his desire to bring glory back to north London next season.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the Evening Standard<\/a>, he said: \u201cIt is a target to get back into the Champions League \u2013 but the main target is to win a trophy.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe really deserve it, so do the club and the fans,\u201d he added. \u201cWe have a very good squad and the structure that we need [to win silverware].<\/p>\n

\u201cSo we need to target this \u2013 to win a trophy and then, of course, get back to the Champions League. It’s a very beautiful competition and I’m sure we’re capable of winning it\u201d.<\/p>\n

Recovering Following a Tough Campaign<\/h3>\n

With Spurs\u2019 place in European competition confirmed for next season, the wait that remains now is which stage they would qualify. Should Chelsea<\/a> defeat Arsenal<\/a> in the FA Cup final, Spurs will advance straight into the group stage.<\/p>\n

However if bitter rivals Arsenal emerge victorious, Spurs would have to enter the second qualifying round and endure a playoff ahead of the new season on September 17. With potential games approaching sooner rather than later, it is important the players recover following an intense season on and off the field.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow it’s time to rest, to enjoy our holidays,\u201d Moura went on to say<\/a>. \u201cWe’ve worked [hard] for 12 months, it’s been very tough and we need to rest, enjoy our time off and come back stronger.\u201d<\/p>\n
