After weeks of negotiating, according to Fabrizio Romano,<\/a> Victor Osimhen is set to be officially announced as a Napoli<\/a> player. Romano also reported that the deal of \u20ac50 million-plus add ons between Lille<\/a> and Napoli has been completed, while Mohamed Bouhafsi reports<\/a> that it is a five-year deal with the option of an extra year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ahead of reportedly completing the deal for Osimhen, Napoli are coming to the end of a pretty poor season, finishing as low as seventh. With their attack ageing, now is the perfect time to bring the Nigerian forward in. While at Lille, Osimhen scored 18 goals and assisted a further six in all competitions this season; at just 21-years-old, Osimhen has the potential to star for Napoli.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Signing of the Summer From Napoli?<\/span><\/h3>\n

Amid the financial impact of COVID-19, many clubs have been unable to secure long term targets. Napoli, on the other hand, have used the situation to their advantage.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Italians have swooped in to steal Osimhen from on watching clubs all around Europe. The fee of \u20ac50 million, too, could prove to be a bargain with Osimhen yet to reach his prime. We could look back on this signing as the difference-maker for Napoli and as the deal of the summer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Competition or Partnership for Mertens?<\/span><\/h3>\n

With Osimhen arriving, the Napoli attack will be better than ever. Dries Mertens<\/a> alongside the Nigerian could prove to be an incredible partnership. The Italian club, however, could see this as the chance to embed Osimhen into the main striking role. Mertens has just one year left on his contract and could be asked to step aside for the reported arrival.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is certainly a deal to keep an eye on as Osimhen looks to further realise his potential. Napoli, too, could re-secure Champions League<\/a> football with the Nigerian at the helm.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
