Sky Sports<\/a> are reporting that Northampton Town captain Charlie Goode<\/a> is wanted by Championship clubs QPR and Middlesbrough.<\/p>\n

It is understood that bids of around \u00a3500,000 have been submitted. The 24-year-old centre-back guided his team to promotion to League One recently via the League Two play-off final against Exeter City<\/a>. The defender has a desire to move up a level. However, he has yet to decide on his future.<\/p>\n

Charlie Goode Wanted by QPR and Middlesbrough<\/h2>\n

Warnock Desperate for Defenders<\/h3>\n

Since arriving on Teeside, Boro manager Neil Warnock<\/a> has insisted that the club is lacking in defenders. It is one area where the experienced boss will be looking to strengthen. Speaking to the local press<\/a> recently, Warnock said: “When you\u2019re looking for a type of player, if you want a defender, you want a defender.<\/p>\n

“I don\u2019t think there\u2019s any rocket science if I\u2019m honest. I think we\u2019ve got a lot of forward-looking defenders, but not many defending defenders. The club\u2019s got to have some defenders for next season, there has to be a priority in those positions.\u201d<\/p>\n

It appears that the former Cardiff City manager has identified 6ft 5in 24-year-old to help strengthen what he considers as the weakest position at Boro.<\/p>\n

QPR Willing to Pay Half a Million Pounds<\/h3>\n

According to West London Sport<\/a>, Rangers manager Mark Warburton is keen on bringing at least one defender to the club this summer. The defender he wants appears to be the towering Northampton captain.<\/p>\n

It is understood the Warburton and Rangers are willing to pay \u00a3500,000 for Goode’s services. The West London side finished mid-table last season and conceded 76 goals. Only two other clubs conceded more.<\/p>\n

Cobblers Want Big Fee for Charlie Goode<\/h3>\n

Northampton chairman Kelvin Thomas has told the Northampton Chronicle<\/a> that it would take a ‘significant fee’ to praise Charlie Goode away from the club. However, he did admit that the decision could be taken out of the club’s hands.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen Charlie came into the club, Keith spoke to him about being captain and agreed with him that if he came in and did well then we certainly wouldn\u2019t stand in his way if a Championship or Premier League-type big club came in for him.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe live by what we said, but it is going to take a significant fee for that to happen, and that was always the agreement, that it would always take a fee.”<\/p>\n
