Bournemouth’s<\/a> board of directors will meet to discuss the possibility of making a compensation claim against Hawk-Eye.<\/p>\n

The claim will be in response to the mistake made by Hawk-Eye during the game between Sheffield United and Aston Villa<\/a>. The mistake has played a direct role in Aston Villa’s<\/a> Premier League survival which confined Bournemouth to relegation.<\/p>\n

Villa keeper Orjan Nyland seemingly carried the ball across the line during a goal-mouth encounter. However, referee Michael Oliver received no notification from Hawk-Eye to state the ball crossed the line.<\/p>\n

Bournemouth Considering Claim for Compensation Against Hawk-Eye<\/h2>\n

Hawk-Eye Cameras Had No Vision Due to Player Obstructions<\/h3>\n

According to Hawk-Eye, the players and goalposts were blocking the camera’s view which led to the mistake. Hawk-Eye, compared to the new induction of VAR, has been largely successful. However, this mistake had a causal effect on Bournemouth’s survival chances.<\/p>\n

Hawk-Eye said it<\/a> “unreservedly apologises”, and acknowledges that the ball had gone over the line. The company also pointed out that it is the first mistake to have occurred in over 9000 matches.<\/p>\n

Sheffield United<\/a> manager, Chris Wilder, was furious at the time stating<\/a>: “Seven cameras haven’t picked it up – the most technical league in the world – everything we see at every angle and it hasn’t seen a goal.”<\/p>\n

Aston Villa Went on to Survive the Relegation Battle By One Point<\/h2>\n

At the top of the table, Liverpool<\/a> ran away with the league after another blistering campaign. On the opposite end, the relegation battle saw several teams in with a chance of being relegated on the final day. Aston Villa, Bournemouth, and Watford<\/a> were all battling for potential survival. In the end, a single point separated Bournemouth and Aston Villa, highlighting the magnitude of the Hawk-Eye error.<\/p>\n

As of yet, no legal action has been taken. Bournemouth’s board will meet over the coming days to formulate their decision.<\/p>\n
