Leicester City midfielder James Maddison<\/a> has agreed a new long-term deal at the club, according to The Athletic’s<\/a> David Ornstein. Despite only joining the club in 2018, there had been plenty of rumours linking the 23-year-old<\/a> with a move away from the Foxes. In spite of that, it was also reported back in February<\/a> that he would sign a new contract with Leicester, and he has now reportedly done so, agreeing a four-year deal on \u00a3110,000-per-week.<\/p>\n

While an injury has kept Maddison out of action for a lot of Project Restart, what he produced in the earlier part of the season was enough to convince everyone that he is among the top talents at Leicester.<\/p>\n

This new deal proves that, too, as he now enters the top bracket alongside Jamie Vardy<\/a>, who is the highest-paid player at the club.<\/p>\n

Since his arrival from Norwich City<\/a> two summers ago, Maddison has scored 16 times and assisted ten in 76 appearances – a more than respectable return.<\/p>\n

Continuing the Vardy Link-Up<\/h3>\n

The interesting thing now will be whether Maddison and Vardy can continue their excellent partnership. Vardy may have just secured the Golden Boot<\/a>, beating the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang<\/a> and Danny Ings<\/a> to the award, but in doing so he becomes the oldest-ever recipient of the accolade.<\/p>\n

Even at 33, Vardy isn’t currently showing signs of slowing down. However, over the course of the season, we could see him lose half a yard of that blistering pace that is so crucial to his game, Leicester’s game and the partnership with Maddison.<\/p>\n

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers will be delighted to tie down one of his biggest assets, and doing so now means that there will not be a summer-long transfer saga surrounding James Maddison – something Rodgers will have been keen to avoid.<\/p>\n
