Che Adams<\/a> spoke about his optimism at Southampton<\/a> and his first full season at the club.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old striker, speaking to Sky Sports<\/a>, gave his thoughts on the Saints’ up and down season in the Premier League this season.<\/p>\n

Adams also provided an honest opinion about his own pressures and achievements this season.<\/p>\n

Che Adams<\/a> Positive About Future at Southampton<\/h2>\n

Adams: ‘We Knew We Were Good Enough’<\/h3>\n

Following a poor start to the 2019\/20 Premier League campaign, where Southampton lost eight of their opening 12 matches, Adams reflected on the turnaround at St Mary’s in the second half of the season.<\/p>\n

Southampton are 12th in the Premier League on 49 points. Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side lost just one game since the league restarted on June 19.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Sky<\/a>, Adams said: “Considering the start of the season where we got off to a rocky start we have managed to pull it back now and everyone can see how much better and tight-knit as a squad we look.<\/p>\n

“We are just glad that we came out of it really, as a team, as players we knew we were good enough to hold our own and get up the table and we have shown that.”<\/p>\n

Support from Teammates<\/h3>\n

Adams arrived for \u00a315 million from Birmingham City<\/a> last summer after scoring 22 Championship goals for the Blues.<\/p>\n

Although he started the first six games of the season, the striker dropped out of the team by late September.<\/p>\n

But, the 24-year-old recently scored his first goal for the club against Manchester City<\/a> when the Saints beat them 1-0. Adams then added a second Premier League goal in the 2-0 win over Bournemouth<\/a> last weekend.<\/p>\n

When reflecting on his “tough” individual season, Adams was grateful for the support and guidance from his teammates. The 24-year-old was particularly positive about the impact of Golden Boot candidate, Danny Ings<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Adams said<\/a>: “It was definitely tough but the lads around me were great helping me, just talking to me and giving me belief and as a striker, I think [self-belief] is what you need.<\/p>\n

“The guys were great, keeping the faith with me. The manager and all the staff and everyone around the club, including the fans. It was nice to feel at home and wanted really.<\/p>\n

On Ings, Adams explained: “He has been amazing on and off the pitch really, he is just a great guy to have around the training ground.<\/p>\n

“It is no surprise how many goals he has got because in training he is unbelievable. Everything that he does, everything that he touches\u2026 he just oozes confidence. It is nice to see.”<\/p>\n
