Japhet Tanganga<\/a> will sign a new long-term deal with Tottenham Hotspur<\/a>, according to the Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 21-year old’s new contract will see him stay at the North London club until 2024. The defender will also see a significant pay rise on his current \u00a31,000 per week wages.<\/p>\n

Reward for Tanganga After Breakthrough Season<\/h3>\n

The new long-term deal follows an impressive breakthrough season for Tanganga. The versatile defender fit into the Spurs backline seamlessly on his Premier League<\/a> debut against Liverpool<\/a> back in January.<\/p>\n

Jose Mourinho appears to have plenty of faith in the 21-year-old. He established himself under the Portuguese manager in the second half of the season and made 11 appearances for Spurs in all competitions.<\/p>\n

Although a back injury kept the defender out of action since the restart, he returned to the bench for Spurs’ recent matches.<\/p>\n

Tanganga appears happy at Tottenham and expressed his desire to forge a long-standing career at the club. In January, speaking on his future, the defender said<\/a>: “This club is fantastic, the staff, the coaches, everyone has just helped me. The club means a lot to me, having been with them for so long.<\/p>\n

“Of course I\u2019d love to stay with them as long as I could and go on until I retire. But that\u2019s for the club to deal with me and for me to focus on the pitch and deliver as much as I possibly can.”<\/p>\n

Mourinho Ties Down Another Youngster at Tottenham<\/h3>\n

Tanganga will become the second youngster to commit his future to Spurs with a long-term deal. 19-year-old Oliver Skipp also signed a three-year deal<\/a> last week as Mourinho looks set to tie down his future prospects.<\/p>\n

In addition to the promising talents at Spurs, Eric Dier also signed<\/a> a four-year extension with Spurs on Tuesday. The 26-year-old England international has become a regular at centre-back under Mourinho.<\/p>\n
