Christian Pulisic<\/a> continues his impressive form in the Premier League<\/a> with his latest performance against Liverpool<\/a>, yielding a goal and an assist. Despite losing to the Premier League champions, Chelsea<\/a> were allowed a path back into the match due to the spark Pulisic provided as a substitute.<\/p>\n

Since Project Restart began, Pulisic has been a consistent producer for Chelsea offensively. With four goals and four assists in his last eight Premier League appearances, Pulisic is proving to be a key component of Frank Lampard’s team.<\/p>\n

Christian Pulisic Shows His Quality Against Premier League Champions<\/h2>\n

Instant Impact<\/h3>\n

Pulisic has twice entered as a substitute for Chelsea since the beginning of Project Restart. In both appearances, he’s scored shortly after coming onto the pitch. Against Aston Villa, he scored just five minutes after replacing Ruben Loftus-Cheek<\/a> which helped Chelsea earn all three points in their 2-1 victory.<\/p>\n

Against Liverpool, Pulisic entered in the 59th minute, replacing Willan<\/a>, and had an instant impact. In the 61st minute, he provided an assist on Tammy Abraham’s<\/a> goal and then he would go on to score himself in the 71st minute to bring Chelsea within one. In the end, Liverpool would prevail 5-3 to ensure they secured victory on the day they lifted the Premier League title.<\/p>\n

Although Chelsea missed an opportunity to secure Champions League football next year, Pulisic was certainly a bright spot in a match where Chelsea appeared to be down and out of.<\/p>\n

Not Just a Substitute<\/h3>\n

Pulisic’s effectiveness as a substitute for Chelsea has not been his only strength. When Lampard has included him in the starting XI he’s proved capable of producing high-quality minutes on the pitch. In five of the six matches he’s started since Project Restart, the American has either scored or recorded an assist.<\/p>\n

He is one of the club leaders when it comes to expected goals per 90 minutes<\/a> at 0.45 with only Olivier Giroud and Abraham ahead of him in this statistical category. In goal creating actions, he is currently tied for second on the team with 13 actions.<\/p>\n

Overall, Pulisic has been one of the offensive leaders for Lampard’s side over the course of the last month. As the 2019-2020 season comes to a close, Pulisic has passed the test in his first Premier League. He has proven to be effective in every role he’s been given and is an invaluable player for Chelsea.<\/p>\n
