Much of Diouf’s early years with the club were spent in the Premier League. In total, the striker played 144 times, scoring 24 goals for the club.

Having joined the club in 2014 on a free transfer from German club Hannover 96, Diouf has become a popular figure at the bet365 Stadium. Perhaps most memorable for his solo goal at the Etihad in 2017, to earn Stoke a 1-0 away win against Manchester City.

Diouf will now begin his search for a new club as a free agent once more. It is unknown where the striker may head to next, having previously had spells with Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers and Molde before his time with Stoke City, it is likely he will attract plenty of interest.

Diouf has been on the fringes of the Potters squad this season, and as a result has only made eight league appearances, scoring just one goal.

Stoke City also confirmed the departure of former Republic of Ireland international Stephen Ward, who leaves the bet365 Stadium following just one season with the Potters.

Along with Diouf and Ward, goalkeeper Adam Federici and eight youth team players have left the club, as confirmed last week.

Main Photo

Embed from Getty Images

Senegalese forward Mame Biram Diouf has left Stoke City after six years in the Potteries, the club has confirmed.
