Aston Villa<\/a> boss Dean Smith has ruled out any possibility of John Terry<\/a> taking the Bristol City manager’s job.<\/p>\n

John Terry Focused on Villans, Says Smith<\/h3>\n

The Robins have been without a manager since Lee Johnson<\/a>‘s departure at the start of July.<\/p>\n

Speculation in the national media had linked the former Chelsea and England skipper to the vacant Bristol City role.<\/p>\n

A report in the Daily Express on Sunday (July 19) claimed Terry was ready to become a manager after nearly two years under Villa boss Dean Smith<\/p>\n

They added that the recent success of Terry’s England teammates Frank Lampard<\/a> and Steven Gerrard<\/a>, the 39-year-old is keen for a role of his own.<\/p>\n

But, according to Smith, Terry is fully focussed on his current role at Villa Park.<\/p>\n

Asked whether it was a discussion the duo had had, Smith said:<\/a> “I answered it a couple of weeks ago.<\/p>\n

“I spoke to JT about the Bristol City link and he said no.<\/p>\n

“He’s fully focussed on the job here.<\/p>\n

“We have a really good working relationship and a good relationship away from work as well.<\/p>\n

“We really enjoy working together.”<\/p>\n

A number of individuals have already been linked with the role, each with varying levels of experience.<\/p>\n

Chris Hughton is the bookies’ favourite having had a successful time managing clubs in the Championship<\/a>; he has taken Brighton & Hove Albion<\/a> and Newcastle United<\/a> to the Premier League<\/a> from the second-tier.<\/p>\n

Steven Gerrard is another big name associated with the role; however, the Sunday Express claims he has withdrawn himself from the race.<\/p>\n

Plymouth Argyle boss Ryan Lowe<\/a> and the currently unemployed Mick McCarthy are further names linked.<\/p>\n
