This means they will have a hard time keeping hold of their young players. The likes of Max Aarons, Ben Godfrey, and Todd Cantwell will attract top-flight teams.

Sorensen, a defensive midfielder and centre back, has made 31 appearances in all competitions this season. At 22-years-old, he’s a perfect fit in Norwich’s young side. His experience could also come in handy. Whilst being young, he has tasted Europa League action with his home-town team this season. “Lungi” has also received call-ups to Denmark’s U18s, 20s and 21s squads.

The Dane also seems to appreciate Daniel Farke’s coaching. In an interview on Norwich’s official website, he states “I think he’s a good coach. I don’t know him personally yet, but it’s nice to see the young guys get the chance.”

Moreover, the feeling is mutual, with the Head Coach mentioning: “He’s young but still has experience on a really good level in a different country. He’s a brilliant lad and I like his attitude. He offers a lot in midfield. He’s aggressive and competitive in duels but also good on the ball, so quite versatile.”

Norwich at Heart

The disruptive midfielder has expressed his excitement towards this new chapter of his career. He mentions he’s watched City at every chance and can’t wait to experience Carrow Road in person.

“I can’t wait to get started. I’m looking forward to meeting the fans when they can be in the stadium. I could feel the atmosphere through the television against Man City. It seemed incredible”.

“I grew up watching the Premier League and you can also see the Championship on Danish television, I’ve watched a lot of these matches. The English leagues are probably the strongest in the world.”

“It’s England, it’s Norwich, it’s a big club. It doesn’t matter if it’s the Championship or Premier League, it’s a great step for me. I’m really excited to play for Norwich”.

Subject to international clearance, Jacob Sorensen will officially become a Norwich City player when the transfer window opens on Monday, July 27. He follows the footsteps of fellow Danish countrymen Steen Nedergaard, Jens Berthel Askou, Thomas Helveg, Henrik Mortensen, Jan Molby, and David Nielsen, and hopes to bring the Canaries back to the Premier League.

Main Photo

Embed from Getty Images

Norwich City have signed Jacob Sorensen from Danish Superliga side Esbjerg fB for an undisclosed fee.
