Huddersfield Town<\/a> manager Danny Cowley has hinted at the need for investment in his squad ahead of next season.<\/p>\n

The Terriers all but secured their Championship status following their 2-1 win over promotion hopefuls West Bromwich Albion<\/a> last night, but it has been a tough campaign for a club that suffered relegation from the Premier League<\/a> as recently as last summer.<\/p>\n

Speaking after his sides win over the Baggies, Cowley said<\/a>: “In the changing room, there was a lot of relief, a lot of emotion and some tears.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

“Don’t tell me they don’t care. They genuinely care. They are good boys. If we didn’t think they cared we wouldn’t play them and I think I have shown that in the decisions I have taken over time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“But what we have to do now as a football club is look forward and have to want to better ourselves. We have to stop getting in our own way; that’s really, really important.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“We have to recruit a group that ticks enough of the Championship boxes because there are certainly boxes that have to be ticked if you want to be a good Championship team.”<\/p>\n

Huddersfield Under Cowley<\/h3>\n

Cowley replaced Jan Siewert, who was sacked on 16 August after three winless league games and a Carabao Cup first-round defeat by Cowley’s Lincoln City, in September.<\/p>\n

The former Imps manager lost his first game in charge against Sheffield Wednesday, before a defeat at West Brom and draw against Millwall.<\/p>\n

A win over Stoke City was followed up by a 3-0 victory over Hull City – a result which moved the Terriers out of the bottom three. Since then, Cowley’s side have been above the drop but have been flirting with relegation for most of the season.<\/p>\n

The 41-year-old will be hoping of some investment during the transfer window as he aims to rebuild a Huddersfield side that can secure promotion back to the Premier League.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
