Manchester United<\/a> have agreed a deal for young Real Madrid<\/a> defender Alvaro Fernandez, according to reports in Spain.<\/p>\n

United Set to Sign Real Madrid Youth Prospect<\/h3>\n

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer<\/a> will make his first signing of the summer by bringing defender Alvaro Fernandez to Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

The Real Madrid youngster, who decided against a new deal with Los Blancos<\/em>, will pen a four-year deal with the Manchester club.<\/p>\n

According to AS <\/a>in Spain and the Manchester Evening News<\/a>, the 17-year-old failed to sign new terms with the La Liga<\/a> champions after his contract ended on June 30.<\/p>\n

Now it appears that Fernandez has given up any hopes of breaking into Madrid’s first-team and will head to England.<\/p>\n

Alvaro Fernandez Agrees on Four-Year Deal<\/h3>\n

Fernandez comes from the Galician region of Spain and is predominantly a left-back but has the ability to get down the wing. Madrid beat Barcelona<\/a> to his signature from Deportivo de La Coru\u00f1a three years ago.<\/p>\n

The Spaniard has gone on to play for the club’s U15, U16 and U17 sides, showing promising signs throughout.<\/p>\n

The 13-time Champions League winners had hoped to keep the youngster as a future first-team player.<\/p>\n

But with his contract up at the Bernabeu, Fernandez has opted to leave the Spanish giants this summer.<\/p>\n

Manchester United Add Fernandez to Defensive Ranks<\/h3>\n

Fernandez is expected to be the first of many signings through the door this transfer window.\u00a0 The left-back will initially join up with United’s youth team but with the chance to break into the senior side.<\/p>\n

What’s more, with no transfer fee to pay, it appears a shrewd move from the Red Devils given the financial uncertainties in the game right now.<\/p>\n

Currently, Solskjaer’s first-team options on the left side of defence include Luke Shaw<\/a>, Brandon Williams<\/a> and Timothy Fosu-Mensah<\/a>.<\/p>\n
