Real Madrid<\/a>\u00a0have<\/span>\u00a0clinched their 34th La Liga title with a game to spare, after a 2-1 victory over Villareal on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

Los Blancos<\/em>, who have been\u00a0simply\u00a0<\/span>sensational since the restart, came into the game on the spin of a nine game-winning run, knowing a win would be enough to clinch the title.<\/span><\/p>\n

Zinedine Zidane\u2019s men showed no signs of complacency, going straight to business with Karim Benzema\u2019s<\/a> 29th-minute opener. Benzema drilled his shot past Sergio Asenjo, after a well-worked pass from Luka Modric<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 32-year-old then doubled the lead with a sweetly struck penalty after Sergio Ramos<\/a> was brought down in box halfway through the second half.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the 83rd minute, Villareal substitute Vincent Iborra pulled one back for the Yellow Submarines, but it was too little too late as Benzema\u2019s brace was enough to see off a tenacious Villareal side.<\/span><\/p>\n

With a game to spare, Madrid sit seven points clear of second placed Barcelona after winning 26 La Liga games, with eight draws and three loses.<\/span><\/p>\n

This title triumph is Madrid\u2019s 92nd trophy, the best in the Spanish division as they now edge out Barcelona<\/a> on 91.<\/span><\/p>\n

Trophy Magnet Zidane<\/span><\/h3>\n

Having brought instant success to the Bernabeu, Zinedine Zidane has now won his 11th trophy in four years for the Spanish giants, adding the much sought-after La Liga trophy to his growing list of managerial silverware.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Frenchman took over from Santiago Solari in March 2019<\/a>, returning to the club for his second stint as head coach. He has since handled a rebuilding squad superbly, steadily guiding the club to their second league title in the last eight La Liga seasons, despite the departure of club legend Cristiano Ronaldo.<\/span><\/p>\n

Real Madrid travel to face Leganes in their final game of the 2019\/20 LaLiga season, and can now focus on their UEFA Champions League<\/a> second leg against Manchester City.<\/a><\/p>\n
