Middlesbrough defender Djed Spence<\/a> is on the radar of numerous clubs this summer, including Tottenham Hotspur.<\/a><\/p>\n

Jose Mourinho is a Fan of the Defender<\/h3>\n

Spurs have been keeping an eye on the youngster for quite some time now and are ready to launch a bid to try and bring the player to White Hart Lane when the transfer window opens its doors July 27, according to The Gazette<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Having played 22 times in all competitions for Middlesbrough so far this season, he has caught the eye of numerous potential Premier League suitors. With Jose Mourinho already a big fan of the right-back, it has only ramped up the interest even more.<\/p>\n

New Two-Year Middlesbrough Deal<\/h3>\n

Spence could be of some value to Boro if they did decide to let him leave. He only penned a new two-year extension at the Riverside back in February and it means that any team wanting to sign him this summer may have to pay more to secure his signature.<\/p>\n

Tottenham Searching For a New Right-Back<\/h3>\n

Tottenham are currently on the lookout for a new right-back. Curr ent starter Serge Aurier<\/a> was nearly sold last summer and replaced, only for a move to peter out. In addition, Kyle Walker-Peters<\/a> is out on loan at Southampton<\/a> and could make a permanent switch to the Saints when the window opens.<\/p>\n

It means that Jose Mourinho is short of options in that area and he believes that Spence is a big talent and is worth signing from Middlesbrough.<\/p>\n

Boro Battling Relegation<\/h3>\n

With the Championship side currently battling to stay in the league – they currently sit in 18th place, five points above the drop zone – they could be resigned to losing Spence anyway. If they do end up dropping down into League One, Spence may want to continue to test his talent at a higher level.<\/p>\n

The club themselves may need to offload one or two players to account for the money they would lose from making the drop down a tier.<\/p>\n

If Spurs don’t launch a bid, then West Ham United, Burnley, Southampton and Brighton & Hove Albion are all believed to be waiting in the wings to try and snap up the youngster too.<\/p>\n
