Swindon Town defender Rob Hunt has signed a 12-month contract extension<\/a> to keep him at the club until 2022.<\/p>\n

The 25-year old defender<\/a> made a squad-leading 34 appearances in his debut season and was integral as the Robins won the League Two<\/a> title, beating Crewe Alexandra on points per game.<\/p>\n

Swindon conceded just 39 goals in 36 matches with Hunt shining in both the right and left back positions.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the club website, Hunt said<\/a>: \u201cIt was a really easy decision to extend for another year. The club\u2019s been brilliant for me this season; not only the lads and all the staff members but the fans as well. They have been behind the team throughout the season which is unreal to see every week when you set foot onto the pitch.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve enjoyed this year so much on and off the field. The football we have played at times has been unbelievable but off the field as well, the positivity and togetherness through the season, even when times got tough. That shows the real quality of this team.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to getting back to football after these crazy times and hoping fans can come and enjoy the new season and a good year of football in League One.\u201d<\/p>\n

EFL Centurion<\/h2>\n

Hunt started his career in the Brighton & Hove Albion academy before moving to Oldham Athletic in January 2017 in search of regular first team football. Initially at Boundary Park on loan, he made the move permanent later that year, playing under future Swindon manager Richie Wellens.<\/p>\n

Hunt notched up 81 appearances for the Latics before signing for Swindon last summer. During his first season with the club, the Dagenham born defender scored once and provided six assists, as well as chalking up his 100th<\/sup> EFL<\/a> appearance.<\/p>\n
