Defender Lewis Montsma<\/a>\u00a0has signed<\/a> for Lincoln City<\/a> on a three and a half year deal. The 22-year-old centre-back joins the Imps after being released by Dutch second division side FC Dordrecht.<\/p>\n

Montsma “Can’t Wait” to start<\/h3>\n

Montsma made 25 appearances for Eerste Divisie team FC Dordecht last season.<\/p>\n

At 6ft 3, the Dutch centre-back impressed with his physicality and distribution skills in the Dutch second division last season. He made 24 appearances for Dordecht in the 2019\/20 season in all competitions.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old began his career at AFC Amsterdam but joined Eredivisie side SC Heerenveen as a teenager for one season, featuring for the club’s youth teams at under 17 and 19 level.<\/p>\n

Montsma then joined SC Cambuur under 21s before transferring to FC Dordrecht in 2018.<\/p>\n

The towering defender made 48 appearances overall across two seasons for Schapenkoppen before his contract expired in June.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very happy, I think it\u2019s an amazing club and I\u2019m delighted to be here. From the National League to League One in four years is amazing and I think it\u2019s the perfect move for me to play games and gain some experience in England.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe style, the people, the supporters, everything is so good over here. I\u2019m a footballing central defender and I can\u2019t wait to play in front of our fans\u201d.<\/p>\n

Appleton “Thrilled” with Signing<\/h3>\n

Imps boss Michael Appleton was pleased to land the ball-playing centre back. He spoke highly of Montsma’s footballing ability.<\/p>\n

Also speaking to Lincoln City’s official website, Appleton said<\/a>: \u201cLewis is a very versatile defender who can play either side at centre half. He is a physical specimen and I\u2019m thrilled to have signed him. He uses the ball really well and is comfortable with both feet in possession whilst being very aggressive out of possession. I\u2019m sure he\u2019ll be a real asset to this club\u201d.<\/p>\n
