Stoke City<\/a> goalkeeper Adam Federici<\/a> has been released by the club following the end of his contract. The 35-year-old ends a two-year association with the club having originally joined from Bournemouth<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Back-Up Goalkeeper Departs<\/h3>\n

Thirty-five-year-old Federici joined Stoke in 2018 as a back-up goalkeeper following their relegation from the Premier League. The Australian was limited to EFL Cup and FA Cup matches in his first season, not making a league appearance until 2019 when he started against Middlesbrough.<\/p>\n

Federici was, once again, the back-up for 2019\/20, but did made two starts at the beginning of the season when Butland made a series of errors that cost Stoke points. Butland was restored but dropped again soon after, allowing Federici to play all of Stoke’s league matches in October 2019.<\/p>\n

Upon Michael O’Neill’s appointment at the club, Butland was reinstated at the first choice, and Federici dropped to third in the pecking order, also behind Adam Davies<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Host of Youth Players Leave<\/h3>\n

As well as Federici, eight players from Stoke’s U23 side have not seen their deals renewed.<\/p>\n

Oliver Shenton ends his 15-year association with the club, having graduated from the academy at the bet365 Stadium.<\/p>\n

Also leaving are Jake Dunwoody<\/a>, Cameron McJannet, Scott Wara<\/a>, Tre Pemberton<\/a>, Ash Kigbu, James Jennings<\/a> and Abdul Sankoh.<\/p>\n

Nine second-year scholars have, though, been offered new contracts – Mohamed Akandji, Nathan Broome, Kieran Coates, Patrick Jarrett, Lewis Macari, Daniel Malone, Ethon O’Driscoll Varian, Adam Porter and Soiyir Sanali. Additionally, Ibrahima Doucoure and Reece Jones have been released.<\/p>\n

Duo Extend to Season’s End<\/h3>\n

Meanwhile, the club have been boosted by the news that defender Steven Ward and striker Mame Biram Diouf<\/a> have extended their deals until the end of the season.<\/p>\n

This means they will be able to assist in Stoke’s battle against relegation from the Championship.<\/p>\n
