Nottingham Forest will face strong competition to sign former Charlton striker Lyle Taylor.<\/p>\n

The talented forward is a free agent after failing to sign a contract extension with Lee Bowyer’s side.<\/p>\n

And Sabri Lamouchi is reportedly keen to take advantage of the disputes by signing him for his Reds.<\/p>\n

Lewis Grabban<\/a> has provided a considerable majority of the Reds’ goals this season – the forward netted his 20th goal of the season against Preston North End on Saturday (July 11).<\/p>\n

According to NottinghamshireLive<\/a>, the Reds have opened discussions with Taylor<\/a>‘s representatives over a deal.<\/p>\n

The report adds that Forest’s interest does not rely on promotion to the Premier League<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Taylor, 30, had scored 11 goals in the Championship<\/a> prior to departing the Valley.<\/p>\n

Celtic<\/a> reportedly lead the way for the former Wimbledon man; Rangers, West Bromwich Albion<\/a> and Swansea City<\/a> are also clubs tipped to sign the striker.<\/p>\n

Taylor: What Would Happen If I Had an Injury Now That Threatened the Rest of My Career<\/h3>\n

The 30-year-old will likely take his time over his decision given his lucrativeness and availability on a free transfer.<\/p>\n

Discussing his decision not to play for the Addicks, Taylor told Sky Sports (via NottsLive<\/a>):\u00a0“I’m gutted at the way it’s finishing, but I don’t expect people to care. I know that once the damage is done it’s irreparable and I don’t really expect any sympathy.<\/p>\n

“We are the first ones able to go back so that’s difficult for footballers and football clubs. My reasons and concerns stem from my knee injury – it plays on the mind.<\/p>\n

“It makes me think what would happen if I had an injury now that threatened the rest of my career. I’ll be honest with you, it scared the life out of me.<\/p>\n

“That’s my honest reasoning. I know it won’t sit well with people but it’s been a very hard decision to make.<\/p>\n

“I want to play to keep this team in the league; we have worked so hard to get here. But there is something in the back of my head that says if you get a serious injury the chance you have worked and dreamed of since you were six-years-old is gone.<\/p>\n

“I’m not 26 or 27 – I’m 30 years old. The way I play, it puts me in positions that I could get seriously injured at any time.”<\/p>\n
