Eric Garcia<\/a> looks set to remain at Manchester City<\/a> next season, according to Martin Blackburn from the Sun.<\/a><\/p>\n

The 19-year-old has been linked with a return to his former club Barcelona.<\/a>\u00a0Recent reports suggested<\/a> that the City defender agreed to personal terms with the Catalan club, but it appears as though the Spaniard will stay at the Etihad.<\/p>\n

Eric Garcia Expected to Stay at Manchester City<\/h2>\n

New Deal for Garcia<\/h3>\n

Garcia started three of City’s six games since the restart and made 16 appearances overall for Guardiola’s side this season.<\/p>\n

The 19-year-old centre back made his debut for City earlier this season against Preston North End<\/a> in the Carabao Cup. Garcia provided an assist in the 3-0 win.<\/p>\n

Following a run of excellent form in the first team for City, Garcia will reportedly be offered a new contract by the club.<\/p>\n

According to reports<\/a>, his wages will rise from \u00a312,000 to \u00a340,000 a week despite having two years left on his current contract.<\/p>\n

Barcelona Interest<\/h3>\n

However, Barcelona still remains interested in Garcia, who came through the club’s prestigious La Masia<\/em> academy.<\/p>\n

But there has been no formal approach<\/a> for the defender from Barca yet, which would breach FIFA’s transfer rules. This seemingly disproves any reports that the Spaniard agreed on terms to join his former club.<\/p>\n

Garcia joined Man City from Barcelona’s academy in July 2017 for around \u00a31.5 million.<\/p>\n

Guardiola “Confident” of Garcia Stay<\/h3>\n

Guardiola spoke about Garcia’s situation following City’s 5-0 win over Newcastle United<\/a> yesterday. The City boss said<\/a>: “There is no updates, we have one more year, if they want him they must call Txiki and we\u2019ll try to convince him to stay here for many years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m confident he will stay but it\u2019s his decision, he knows we want him. But it was the same with\u00a0Leroy Sane<\/a> and he didn\u2019t want to stay.<\/p>\n

\u201cEric knows, his agent knows and his family know we want him here.\u201d<\/p>\n
