Swindon Town stand-in captain Mathieu Baudry has signed a new two-year deal with the Robins.<\/p>\n
The Robins have secured the services of one of their most influential players this year.<\/p>\n
Baudry enjoyed a successful first season at the County Ground, achieving promotion to League One as champions. He will remain with the Robins until June 2022.<\/p>\n
The Frenchman had spells in England and in France before ending up with Swindon Town.<\/p>\n
He started his career with Le Havre before joining Troyes. The 32-year-old travelled across the English Channel is 2011 to link up with Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth<\/a>.<\/p>\n After a season with the Cherries, and a loan spell at Dagenham & Redbridge, Baudry signed for Leyton Orient<\/a> on a permanent deal.<\/p>\n Further moves to Doncaster Rovers<\/a> and MK Dons<\/a> followed before he eventually joined Swindon in June 2019.<\/p>\n Baudry made 26 appearances and kept nine clean sheets for Town during the 2019-20 campaign – he captained the Robins for the majority of the season as Dion Conroy remained absent.<\/p>\n After signing a new deal, the Frenchman said: “I\u2019m delighted to sign a new deal with the club, be here for the next two years and try to help build something special.<\/p>\n “This season I\u2019ve seen the potential with the support, that this club has got and it\u2019s unbelievable.<\/p>\n “We need that support next season because it\u2019s going to be tough but we\u2019ve got a great manager and a great staff, and a great core of young players. With your (the fans\u2019) support, anything can happen.<\/p>\n “Personally, I feel like I\u2019ve got a lot more to show than last season so I\u2019m working already to prepare. We\u2019ve seen what can happen to teams that are newly-promoted \u2013 teams like Luton, Bournemouth, Wycombe are trying to do it now where they go back-to-back almost.”<\/p>\n Main Photo<\/p>\n
