Manchester United<\/a> have opened discussions with Mino Raiola over the contract extension of Paul Pogba<\/a>, as reported by Fabrizio Romano<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Pogba’s current deal expires in the summer of 2021, though there is an option to extend that by 12 months.<\/p>\n

Manchester United won’t want to get to the point where they need to take that up.<\/p>\n

Manchester United Open Contract Talks With Paul Pogba<\/h2>\n

Pogba to Stay?<\/h3>\n

Paul Pogba’s future may be set to take a back seat from the headlines.<\/p>\n

Manchester United have opened discussions with his agent, Mino Raiola, and it looks like the World Cup winning midfielder is open to signing a new contract at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

Much has been made of the antics of Paul Pogba and his infamous agent Mino Raiola, as they looked to be seeking a move away. However all will be forgotten, in the short-term anyway, should an agreement be found.<\/p>\n

It is said that nothing has been agreed yet, with Raiola and Pogba waiting for United’s opening proposal.<\/p>\n

Pogba has long been linked<\/a> with a major move to Real Madrid<\/a>, practically since the day he returned.\u00a0However, that move has never come to fruition, fortunately for his current club.<\/p>\n

Having recently returned from injury and struck a partnership with Bruno Fernandes<\/a>, all seems quite rosy in Manchester. It will be a great shame should that partnership not continue for years to come.<\/p>\n

Pogba’s renewal would only add strength to the positive mood at the football club.<\/p>\n

Solskjaer Wants to Keep Pogba<\/h3>\n

On Wednesday morning, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed he is keen to see Paul Pogba stay at the club.<\/p>\n

“Of course we want to keep the best players around the club and hopefully we can do something,” Solskjaer told the press<\/a> when asked about the situation.<\/p>\n

Solskjaer talks about the squad he is looking to build for the future<\/a>, mentioning the recent extensions of Scott McTominay<\/a> and Nemanja Matic<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“We want to build a squad for the future. We have secured<\/a> one at the start and another<\/a> who is really experienced. But we also need players in the mid-range group.”<\/p>\n

On Pogba specifically, he said: “Since Paul has come back he’s looking better and better. He’s enjoying his football so let’s see where it takes us.”<\/p>\n

Solskjaer on Penalty Duties<\/h3>\n

Meanwhile, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has also taken the time to confirm the identity of Manchester United’s penalty takers.<\/p>\n

There had been some confusion recently, with Bruno Fernandes yet to miss from the spot for United, Marcus Rashford<\/a> was ready to step-up against Tottenham Hotspur<\/a>\u00a0before VAR overruled Jonathan Moss’ decision to award the penalty.<\/p>\n

Then, again, at the weekend, Rashford struck from the spot to give Manchester United a 2-1 lead over Bournemouth<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“It’s going to be a job they (Fernandes and Rashford) will share again,” Ole said<\/a>. “It’s who feels confident there and then.”<\/p>\n

“I’m very confident in both of them. No worries. They’ve got to make the decision out there and that’s just how we’ll leave it.”<\/p>\n

So far so good for Manchester United’s new penalty policy.<\/p>\n
